In Chinese mythology, the Chinese phoenix is an immortal bird whose rare appearance is said to be an omen heralding harmony with the ascent to the throne of a new emperor. The Maki-e technique adorns this Namiki Nippon Art fountain pen. This pen was created in collaboration with various Maki-e artists (Kokkokai) in Japan and features the Hira Maki-e technique, where the main lacquered design is decorated with sprinkled gold and silver powders. Several additional layers of lacquer are then applied. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is polished.
The product are great it beautiful and write very smooth. It also an eye catcher as well especially if you are using it for signing documents in the office. I look forward to getting another higher end version of the Namiki pen next time.

Namiki Nippon Art Chinese Phoenix Fountain Pen
The pen is as beautiful as I expected it to be. However, having unscrewed the top, I found it impossibile to unscrew the nib unit from the main barrel in order to insert a cartridge. I called Iguana Sell’s customer support, and a very helpful Claudia offered an immediate Whatsapp call, so she could see the issue on video. She then explained how they are often very tight from the factory, and as there is an O-ring, cannot harm the pen by using force. And she was right, and I was able to unscrew the nib unit. What excellent service. Thank you Claudia! And as for the pen, now inked, it’s excellent. A great purchase. Very happy customer.

Namiki Tradition
Beautiful pen, quite expensive, but feels great and very elegant, so much more interesting than standard coloured pens.
