The Victorinox Dive Pro Automatic Titanium is an ISO 6425-certified diver’s watch in sandblasted black titanium, water resistant to 300 meters.
Certified for diving
ISO 6425 is the international standard for divers’ watches. Each certified watch is tested for water resistance. The standard also requires a timing bezel that resists accidental turning and a dial that can be read in the dark from 25 cm (about 10 inches) away. The unidirectional bezel has an anti-scratch coating, and its scale lets you time a dive from the moment you set its marker.
A bilingual day display
The automatic movement shows the day and the date, and you can set the day in English or French. The matte black dial carries the words PROFESSIONAL DIVER and ANTIMAGNETIC. Super-LumiNova on the hands and indexes helps you read the time in low light.
From Ibach-Schwyz to Delémont
Victorinox traces its roots to 1884, when Karl Elsener opened a cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. Today the company engineers, manufactures, and tests the Dive Pro at its own factory in Delémont.
The details
The Swiss Sellita SW220-1 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, day, and date.
The titanium case measures 43 mm across and 14 mm thick, and the watch weighs 120 grams. The case has double shock protection. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, the crown screws down, and the case back screws in. The anti-reflective coating is applied in three layers to the inside of the crystal. Water resistance is rated at 300 meters.
The blue rubber strap, 21 mm at the lugs, fastens with a pin buckle. The watch is made in Switzerland.
Before you dive, line up the bezel’s marker with the minute hand, then read the elapsed minutes on the bezel scale. Because the bezel turns one way, an accidental bump can lengthen the reading but never shorten it.
Unscrew the crown, pull it out to the second position, and turn it counterclockwise to change the day. Keep turning the same way to switch between English and French, then push the crown in and screw it down.
This titanium model weighs 120 grams, compared with 143 grams for the stainless steel V241994. Both have the Sellita SW220-1 movement and 300-meter water resistance.
V242070 has a brushed titanium case with a steel bezel, comes on a black rubber strap, and is 16 mm thick. Both have the black dial and the Sellita SW220-1 movement.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
