Overview
Venezianico Redentore Bronzo Automatic Watch with Bronze Dial.
Inspired by the Basilica del Redentore, the Venetian church of Andrea Palladio, the Redentore Bronzo casts case and bezel in QAl9-4 bronze and engraves the Horses of St Mark on the case back. Forged in ancient Greece, the horses have stood on St Mark's Basilica since the 13th century, and each case is cast from a mold and finished by hand. The bronze case measures 40 mm in diameter and 10 mm in thickness.
Hours, minutes and seconds come from a Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. A 316L steel case back secured by six screws closes the case.
The dial is brass that is polished, satin-finished, bronzed and then abraded by hand. It is delivered on a brown aged Italian leather strap with a brushed surface, secured by a buckle.

What is the Basilica del Redentore?
The church Andrea Palladio raised on the Giudecca in Venice, the work that carried the neoclassical line into architecture. The Redentore line takes its name and its proportions from it. Venezianico was founded in late 2017 by the brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli while they were studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice, and it works out of San Donà di Piave.
How will the bronze case age?
It oxidizes from the first day of wear. The tone deepens and darkens where air and skin reach it, and it stays brighter where a cuff rubs, so the case arrives at the palest it will ever be.
What do you do if it has stopped?
Turn the crown about 20 times to put some wind in the mainspring, set the time, and put the watch on. From there the weight inside keeps it wound as long as you wear it most days.
How hard is the sapphire crystal?
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal leave it untouched. It is brittle in exchange, so a sharp impact on the edge is what to avoid.
Who makes the movement?
Miyota, the movement maker owned by Citizen in Japan. Its 9 series automatics operate at 28 800 beats an hour and are among the most widely used in the world, which keeps them simple to service and their parts easy to find decades on.
