Venezianico Nereide Ultraleggero Automatic Watch with Blue Dial.
Named after the Nereide, a submarine of Venetian naval engineering dating to 1919, the Nereide Ultraleggero 42 builds its skeletonized dial in three layers, the first replacing the spacer ring, under patent no. 102021000031718. The dial takes its inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man and is balanced on his golden ratio. In 316L stainless steel, the case measures 42 mm in diameter and 13.4 mm thick.
The hours, minutes and seconds are powered by a skeletonized Japanese Seiko NH70A automatic movement beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. A 316L steel 120-click bezel closes the case, over a back that alternates screws and grooves in radial satin, micro-sandblasted and polished finishes.
The blue dial combines transparent PMMA with skeletonized surfaces in radial satin finishing, and carries Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova. It is delivered on a blue Italian rubber strap, secured by a buckle.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
A submarine of 1919 that Venezianico describes as a marvel of Venetian naval engineering. The line is the diving collection of Venezianico, built around a rotating bezel. The brand was founded in late 2017 by the brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli while they were studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice, and it works out of San Donà di Piave.
How does the dive bezel turn?
In 120 clicks, so each click is half a minute and the marker lands exactly where you set it. Set the marker to the minute hand at the start of a dive and read elapsed time off the scale from there.
What do you do if it has stopped?
Turn the crown about 20 times to put some wind in the mainspring, set the time, and put the watch on. From there the weight inside keeps it wound as long as you wear it most days.
How hard is the sapphire crystal?
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal leave it untouched. It is brittle in exchange, so a sharp impact on the edge is what to avoid.
Who makes the movement?
Seiko Instruments in Japan, whose movements carry the NH and NE references. They are built to be serviced anywhere, which is what keeps a mechanical watch running decades on.
