Just like the Custom Urushi, the Custom 845’s ebonite body is covered with the fabulous and exceptional Urushi lacquer, a highly prized material that has been refined for over 7000 years! The top of the cap is surmounted by a grooved ring under which is inserted its engraved PILOT clip, identical to that of Namiki’s. The lower end of the body has a grooved ring and its two-tone engraved nib highlights its elegant look.

The Pilot Custom 845 is an excellent fountain pen. I ordered the Fine nib and is indeed very fine, as expected from a Japanese crafted nib. Iguana Sell service was impeccable, shipping the product on time and all in good order.
I'm very happy with the pen and the customer experience, this won't be the last item bought from here.

This is a very special pen. In general, Pilot makes amazing pens and even better nibs. But this model with the two tone gold nib (fine), and the flawless Urushi lacquer is stunning and makes this one of my most prized pens. I have used this pen all day, everyday since it’s purchase and in my opinion it is shear perfection. It is lighter than you would expect in the hand making it easy to write with for long sessions and I have never been disappointed in How Pilots nibs write. The fine nib is actually more like an extra fine which I prefer. I don’t post my caps, but if you prefer that, Pilot has lined the inside of the cap with a soft felt material so it doesn’t leave marks on the Urushi finish. I have read that it takes 6 months to apply the 3 coats of lacquer on this pen. I am a structural engineering designer and use my pens for sketching designs and writing.
Two last things. I sincerely want to thank Iguana for offering this special pen at an unbelievable price. And I am also very impressed with their speedy, personal customer service and shipping. I live in Seattle Washington, and received my pen in 3 days with free shipping. That is unbelievable in todays market place. Companies like this just don’t exist anymore. I am 61 years old, and this entire experience with Iguana has made me feel like life was 5 decades ago, and how truly great companies treated their customers. I am proud to be a customer of their store, and look forward to my next purchase.
