This masterpiece of maki-e craftsmanship celebrates the diversity and beauty of nature with the depiction of 11 iconic Asian flowers, each symbolising a season: cherry blossoms, violets and wisteria in spring; clematis, lilies and hydrangeas in summer; carnations, bellflowers and chrysanthemums in autumn; and plum blossoms and peonies in winter.
- Each motif has been created using a unique combination of traditional Hira, Taka and Togidashi maki-e techniques, as well as applications of raden mother-of-pearl, gold and silver powder, achieving a visual and poetic spectacle. The composition reflects a society that values individuality and mutual respect, a timeless message expressed through art. Limited to only 99 pieces worldwide, this Emperor fountain pen features an 18-carat gold No. 50 nib, a deep-coloured Urushi lacquer body and is signed by master craftsman Yutaka Sato of the Kokkokai group.
