Venezianico Nereide Ultrablack Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Named after the Nereide, a Venetian-engineered submarine dating to 1919, the Nereide Ultrablack coats its dial in Musou Black™, a paint developed in Japan that absorbs 99.4% of light. Its Swiss BGW9 Super-LumiNova is white by day and glows blue-green in low light, and the case back carries the submarine Nereide engraved at its center. The stainless steel 316L case measures 42 mm and is 13.3 mm thick.
The Japanese Seiko NH35A automatic caliber drives the hours, minutes, and seconds beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The 120-click bezel has a circular satin-finished 316L steel insert.
The black elastic nylon strap fastens with a buckle.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
A submarine of 1919 that Venezianico describes as a marvel of Venetian naval engineering. The line is the diving collection of Venezianico, built around a rotating bezel. Venezianico was founded in late 2017 by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli while they were studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice, and is based in San Donà di Piave.
What is Musou Black?
A coating whose surface is built as a forest of microscopic cavities. Light that enters gets trapped bouncing between them and 99.4 percent of it stays there, so the dial returns almost nothing and the eye reads it as an absence where it expects a color.
How does the dive bezel turn?
In 120 clicks, so each click is half a minute and the marker lands exactly where you put it. You set the marker to the minute hand at the start of a dive and read elapsed time off the scale from there.
What do you do if it has stopped?
Turn the crown about 20 times to wind the mainspring, set the time, and put the watch on. The weight inside then keeps it wound as long as you wear it most days.
How hard is the sapphire crystal?
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal do not scratch it. Sapphire is brittle, however, so avoid sharp impacts along the edge.
