Wolf is much more than just a brand, it is a family legacy, the perfecting of a craft over five generations to the present day, and now you can find it in our catalogue.
Its founder, Philipp Wolf I, was a German silversmith from the town of Hanau. He soon discovered that his pieces sold better when presented in beautiful boxes, and soon sold more boxes than silver, which is when he founded the company in 1834. He focused not only on creating beautiful jewellery boxes, but also on making them effective in protecting his customers' most precious possessions.
His son Philipp Wolf II worked as an apprentice and soon became an expert. Travelling to Sweden one summer he fell in love with the country, and set up his own workshop in the town of Mälmo. It was there that he married Ida Wilhemina, one of the most important persons in the family history, with whom he had two sons, Ernst and Philipp III, both carrying on the tradition.
It was his wife Ida who, after the Second World War and the death of her husband, showed great determination in taking over Wolf immediately; overseeing all production and travelling across the country, she managed to keep the business alive at one of the most critical times in history.
Both Ernst and Philipp Wolf III continued in the profession, Ernst in Stockholm founding his own brand and Philipp continuing with Wolf. The latter developed numerous inventions, such as the hinges that were inserted through wood, which are still used today, and the famous music box with a rotating dancer.

The fourth generation of the family took a hand in the business with Philip Wolf IV, who was passionate about mechanics and the profession from an early age. His influence led the company to expand into the United Kingdom a few years later and another factory was founded there. So much so that it was Wolf who made the case for the cufflinks given to Ronald Reagan by Margaret Thatcher.
In 1984 the company celebrated its 150th anniversary, and it soon showed that the brand was still in great shape: society was changing and Philip saw a great increase in both leisure and business travel, with the consequent need and opportunity for a compact, practical and safe way to carry watches with you. And so the Wolf tubular case, now a classic in the collection par excellence, was born.

Finally, in 1986, the fifth generation, the current director, Simon Philip Wolf V., joined the family business. From the beginning, under the guidance of his father, he took on some of the company's biggest challenges, entering the US market to begin with, and the Hong Kong market to follow.

After that his British Racing collection soon became a classic. The British Racing green colour came about when in 1902 the UK won the Gordon Bennett Cup motor race for the first time, and in honour of this the following year it was held in Ireland; where they adapted the laws to make it possible, as until then racing had been illegal. As a token of appreciation, the entire UK team changed the colour they raced in, establishing the distinctive British Racing livery that Wolf collects in this collection as a tribute.

And as it has always characterised the brand, the desire for all people to be able to store and care for their most precious possessions, they innovated by making a large part of their pieces vegan leather. It is an effort to incorporate sustainable and recycled materials, such as apple pulp and plastic bottles, as Wolf not only speaks of the past, but never loses sight of the future.
