Overview
Pilot Capless Stripe fountain pen in silver turns long, curved grooves and a pearlescent sheen into a tactile variation on the retractable design.
The grooves are shaped one by one along the rhodium-plated brass body, giving the surface a relief that follows the pen’s length. Special polishing produces a silvery, pearlescent appearance between matte and glossy, so light picks out both the curves and the spaces between them.
The finish surrounds the retractable mechanism at the heart of the Capless series, introduced in 1963. A push button extends the rhodium-plated 18k gold nib and returns it behind an internal shutter. The fountain pen accepts Pilot ink cartridges or a compatible converter for bottled ink, with a converter included.
Made in Japan, it measures 140 mm long. The barrel is 13 mm wide.

What gives the silver Stripe its distinctive surface?
Long, curved grooves are shaped individually in the body. Special polishing of the rhodium-plated brass produces a pearlescent appearance between matte and glossy, so the finish combines relief with a subtle sheen.
How does the Capless work without a separate cap?
Press the button to extend the nib for writing, then press it again to retract it into the barrel. An internal shutter closes over the retracted nib to help protect it from drying out.
Which cartridges and converter fit this Capless?
It accepts Pilot IC-50 ink cartridges or a Pilot CON-40 converter for bottled fountain pen ink. A converter is included.
Can I rinse the whole pen when cleaning it?
No. Flush the removable writing unit with clean water and keep the outer housing and barrel out of the water. Clean the metal exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners.
