Venezianico Arsenale Bronzo combines a smoky blue enamel dial with a 40 mm bronze case and bezel that develop a distinctive patina with wear.
QAl9-4 bronze gives both the case and its knurled bezel their warm tone. This aluminum-based marine alloy gradually oxidizes, so its appearance changes with exposure and handling. Satin finishing softens the bronze’s reflections, setting its warm tone against the cooler blue dial.
The dial is made from enameled brass with a sunburst finish and a fumé gradient. Fine radial reflections move across the blue as the color darkens toward the edge. Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova adds low-light illumination after exposure to light. A blue integrated rubber strap meets the case through a bronze end link and closes with a pin buckle.
The 316L stainless steel back is engraved with the Horses of St. Mark, an emblem of Venice’s history in bronze. Sandblasted and radial satin finishes define the figures. The horses reached St. Mark’s Basilica in the 13th century; their image links the watch to the city’s metalworking heritage.
Measuring 40 mm across, 44 mm from lug to lug, and 9.95 mm thick, the case houses a Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement with hours, minutes, and seconds and no date. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, and water resistance is rated at 5 atm.
The name comes from the Arsenale, the Venetian Republic’s shipyard. Its specialized workshops and sequential assembly methods supported the fleet long before modern factories. That history of organized metalworking is the starting point for the collection’s contemporary case design.
Oxidation gradually changes the bronze’s tone and surface. Moisture, handling, and exposure affect how the patina develops, so each case ages differently rather than following a fixed color or schedule.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9039 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
