Venezianico Arsenale 40 pairs a blue Côtes de Genève dial with a slim steel case and the flatter links of its integrated Canova Concept™ bracelet.
Côtes de Genève is usually seen on movement bridges. Here, the same finish runs vertically across the brass dial. Rotating brushes form the parallel waves, which catch the light differently as the watch moves. Skeletonized dauphine hands and small baton markers leave the striped surface open, while the polished, knurled bezel adds a contrasting texture around it.
The Canova Concept™ bracelet retains the alternating concave and convex forms of the original Canova design, with flatter links and two polished bevels on each link. The polished edges catch the light against the satin surfaces, continuing the case’s lines along the wrist. The bracelet closes with a folding clasp.
Inside the 40 mm 316L stainless steel case, the Japanese Miyota 9029 automatic movement displays hours and minutes without a date or seconds hand. Its compact construction helps keep the watch 8.95 mm thick, including the anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The case measures 44 mm from lug to lug, and water resistance is rated at 5 atm.
The collection is named for Venice’s Arsenale, whose organized shipbuilding methods anticipated aspects of the modern assembly line. The towers engraved on the back make that industrial connection visible when the watch is turned over.
The name comes from the Arsenale, the Venetian Republic’s shipyard. Its specialized workshops and sequential assembly methods supported the fleet long before modern factories. That history of organized metalworking is the starting point for the collection’s contemporary case design.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9029 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
The Côtes de Genève finish is brushed into the brass in parallel waves. As light moves across the surface, neighboring bands reflect differently. The finish is usually associated with movement decoration and is used here on the dial.
Brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli started Venezianico in late 2017 while studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice. The company is based in San Donà di Piave.
