Ball Engineer III Marvelight Chronometer pairs its black dial and magnified date with a 36 mm 904L steel case and matching bracelet.
On the black dial, a magnified date sits alongside the hours, minutes, and sweep seconds. Twenty-seven sealed tritium tubes keep the hands and hour markers illuminated after dark, with a continuous glow that needs no prior charge from an outside light source. The edition is limited to 1,000 watches.
Both the case and bracelet use 904L stainless steel, an alloy containing chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and copper for resistance to corrosion and acids. The 36 mm case measures 11.5 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown. The matching bracelet fastens with a folding clasp.
The COSC-certified Ball RR1101-C automatic movement powers the time and date. Magnetic resistance to 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss) helps protect the mechanical movement’s rate from magnetic fields. The watch has a 5,000 Gs shock-resistance rating, and the case is water-resistant to 10 atm.

Does the gas-tube illumination need charging?
No. This watch uses 27 tritium gas tubes. Tritium inside each sealed glass tube activates a luminous coating continuously, without a battery or prior exposure to light. The glow gradually fades as the tritium decays, with a half-life of about 12.3 years.
Why does Ball use 904L stainless steel?
904L contains chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and copper. That composition gives it strong resistance to corrosion and acids, contributing to the durability of the steel used in this watch.
What does magnetic resistance mean for the movement?
Magnetic fields can disturb a mechanical movement’s rate. The magnetic-resistance rating describes its protection against that effect. The watch is rated to 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss); stronger magnetic fields can exceed that protection.
What does COSC certification mean for this movement?
It passed independent chronometer testing over 15 days, in five positions and at three temperatures. The permitted average daily rate during the test is -4 to +6 seconds. This traditional test is performed before the movement is cased, so the watch’s rate in daily wear can vary.
Why is it important to secure the crown after setting?
After setting or winding, return the crown to its closed position and screw it fully into the case before contact with water. Correct closure is needed to maintain the rated water resistance.
