U-Boat Capsule Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The Capsule line takes its proportions from the bathyspheres of the 1930s, with a round sapphire window let into the side of the case and a patented lever that frees the crown. The Capsule spans 50 mm and adds a 24-hour indicator to the dial. Stainless steel and PVD, 50 mm in diameter.
A Swiss SW 200 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds, a 24-hour indicator, date and a crown cover beneath a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Patented crown protection sits on the left, with a patented crown extraction lever at 10 o’clock, while the case back is laser-engraved, sealed with four external screws and fitted with a screwed serial plate.
Three superimposed dials in black metal build the face, with indexes and numerals in brushed metal, and a round sapphire window is let into the side of the case. Hands and indexes are treated with blue Super-LumiNova, which is the color the dial returns in the dark, and it is delivered on a laser-cut calf leather strap measuring 23 mm at the lugs, secured by a steel tongue buckle with PVD treatment.

Why does the crown sit on the left?
It comes from a watch Ilvo Fontana drew in 1942 for the Italian naval forces, a diver whose crown sat on the left so the hands could be set from that side. His grandson Italo Fontana founded U-Boat in Lucca around that drawing, and the patented clamp over the crown is the part he added.
What is the coating on the case?
Physical vapor deposition. The coating metal is vaporized in a vacuum chamber and bonded to the steel as a hard layer, which holds up to daily abrasion far better than electroplating of the same thickness.
How does a 50 mm case sit on the wrist?
It is a large watch and it is built to read as one. Compare the figure against a watch you already own before you order, because the diameter is what decides this and it is the measurement a photograph flattens. A loose cuff will pass over it.
How is the edition numbered?
The series closes at 200 pieces and each case carries its own number. Once the last one is delivered the reference is finished, which is what holds the value of a numbered series over a catalog model.
How long does the Super-LumiNova glow last?
It is a phosphorescent pigment, so it charges from daylight or a lamp and gives its brightest reading in the first minutes. It fades over the hours that follow and takes a fresh charge every time it meets light again.
