Decorated with the Maki-e technique, this time Namiki pays homage to Rakucho, an imaginary bird that, according to legend, flies through paradise. This piece contains cherry blossom petals, which are inlaid and polished to achieve a refined finish. The background of the body of the pen is painted using Oh-Hi-Nuri, a traditional way of painting the bark of the cherry blossom. The piece is signed by the artist Masahiro Yamada.
