Venezianico Nereide GMT Ceratung Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Named after the Nereide, a Venetian-engineered submarine dating to 1919, the Nereide GMT Ceratung™ features a bidirectional 24-click bezel with an insert that combines ceramic and tungsten. Venezianico describes it as the first watch to join both materials in one bezel insert, rated 8 to 9 on the Mohs scale.
The lacquered black dial has a circular satin-finished 24-hour outer ring and Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova. The Sansovino bracelet fastens with a folding clasp.
The 42 mm stainless steel 316L case is 12.5 mm thick. The Swiss V3290 automatic caliber, with a 42-hour power reserve, drives the hours, minutes, a GMT hand and the date at 6 o’clock beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

What does the name Nereide refer to?
A submarine of 1919 that Venezianico describes as a marvel of Venetian naval engineering. Nereide is Venezianico’s diving collection, built around a rotating bezel. Venezianico was founded in late 2017 by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli while they were studying at Ca’ Foscari in Venice, and is based in San Donà di Piave.
How do I read the second time zone?
A separate hand runs against a scale marked to 24, so you can read home time and local time simultaneously, while the 24-hour track distinguishes day from night in the second time zone.
What is the Ceratung insert?
A bezel insert that fires ceramic and tungsten together into one piece. Venezianico rates the result between 8 and 9 on the Mohs scale, which puts it above hardened steel and close to sapphire, so the scale keeps its edge and its finish.
How hard is the sapphire crystal?
Synthetic sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale, just under diamond, so the everyday abrasives that mark a mineral crystal do not scratch it. Sapphire is brittle, however, so avoid sharp impacts along the edge.
Who makes the movement?
It is a Swiss caliber that Venezianico specifies under its own reference. Venezianico buys the base movement in Switzerland and has it finished and regulated to the specification it publishes.
