Overview

The Zeppelin 100 Years Ed. 1 is a quartz chronograph with an alarm and a black dial.

Chronograph and alarm

The chronograph times intervals of up to 12 hours on the counter at 9 o’clock. The subdial at 6 o’clock shows the alarm time, and the subdial at 3 o’clock shows the small seconds. White numerals stand out on the black dial, and luminous hands and hour markers help you read the time in low light.

Two scales around the dial

The tachymeter converts the time it takes to cover a known distance into average speed. The telemeter gives the distance to something you can both see and hear, such as a lightning strike.

The 100 Years line

The first watch in the 100 Years line, called 100 Jahre in German, was shown at the Basel watch fair in 1989.

The details

The Swiss Ronda 5130.D quartz movement powers the hours, minutes, small seconds, date, chronograph, and alarm beneath a hardened K1 mineral crystal. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm across and 13 mm thick. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters.

The brown leather strap fastens with a pin buckle. The watch is made in Germany.

Questions & Answers

What does the subdial at 6 o’clock show?

The alarm time. The hand on that subdial marks when the alarm will sound, separately from the main hands.

How do I use the tachymeter scale?

Start the chronograph at the beginning of a known distance, such as a mile, and stop it at the end. The chronograph hand then points to your average speed on the scale, in miles per hour if you timed a mile.

What is the telemeter scale for?

It measures the distance to an event you can both see and hear. Start the chronograph at a lightning flash and stop it at the thunder, and the scale shows how far away the strike was.

How does it differ from 7680-1 and 7680M-2?

7680-1 has a silver dial. 7680M-2 has a Milanese mesh bracelet. All share the 42 mm case and the Ronda 5130.D.

How water resistant is it?

It’s water resistant to 50 meters, but Zeppelin advises against wearing it in the shower or tub, or swimming in the ocean with it.

I like the watch

I like the watch. Could be easier to read. Beautiful design.

Love the watch - but I have small wrists and the strap was too large. Tried adding a hole but still too big. So replaced it. Otherwise - all good
