U-Boat Classico Sommerso Ghiera Ceramica Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
The Classico line goes back to the diving watch Ilvo Fontana drew in 1942 for the Italian naval forces, a design that stayed on paper, and it carries the left-hand crown that drawing put there. This one sets a ceramic insert into the dive bezel, on a steel bracelet. The case measures 46 mm in stainless steel.
The U-28 winds itself from the motion of the wrist and runs 38 hours.
The dial runs blue at the top and shades into black at the foot, and the bezel insert is blue ceramic over black. It is worn on a bracelet in stainless steel.

Why does the crown sit on the left?
It comes from a watch Ilvo Fontana drew in 1942 for the Italian naval forces, a diver whose crown sat on the left so the hands could be set from that side. His grandson Italo Fontana built the house in Lucca around that drawing, and the patented clamp over the crown is the part he added.
What does the 24-hour indication give you?
A hand that turns once a day against a track marked from 1 to 24, so a glance separates morning from evening on a dial whose hour hand turns twice. Marine and aviation logs run on a 24-hour clock, which is where the reading comes from.
How does the ceramic insert hold up?
Ceramic is fired to a hardness above hardened steel and it holds its colour under sunlight and salt water, so the scale on the bezel stays legible for the life of the watch. It is brittle in exchange, so the edge is what to keep away from a hard knock.
Why does the dive bezel turn one way only?
You set the marker to the minute hand at the start of a dive and read elapsed time off the scale. Turning in a single direction means that any knock can only shorten the time you read, which errs on the side of surfacing early.
What is the stone at 6 o'clock?
A ruby set into the dial. It is there for the look of it, and it marks the Sommerso dials the way the serial plate on the case flank marks the case.
