Bauhaus Dessau Solar Quartz Chronograph Watch with Blue Dial.
With classic analog dials and polished cases, the Dessau line reflects the functional design of the Bauhaus school, which was based in Dessau from 1925 to 1932. Powered by light alone, the Dessau Solar Chronograph measures elapsed time and features a 24-hour hand and charge indicator. The stainless steel case measures 41 mm and is 10 mm thick.
The Japanese Seiko VR42A solar caliber holds a charge for more than 90 days and drives a date display. K1 safety mineral glass protects the watch.
White numerals and indices mark the blue dial. The dark brown leather strap measures 20 mm wide and fastens with a pin buckle.

What links the Dessau line to the Bauhaus?
Its pared-back, functional dials follow the Bauhaus school. The watches are assembled in a 1929 Bauhaus building in Ruhla. The school was founded in Weimar in 1919 and dissolved in 1933 by its last director, Mies van der Rohe.
Where is it made?
In Ruhla, Thuringia, where precision parts have been made since 1862 and watches since 1892. The VEB Uhrenwerk Ruhla once produced millions of watches there. POINTtec, a family company founded in 1987, designs every model in-house and assembles the watches in its own listed Bauhaus building, built in 1929. The building also houses the Ruhla watch museum. The movement is Japanese.
How does the solar chronograph work?
Pusher A starts and stops the chronograph and pusher B resets it. A charge indicator on the dial shows the state of the cell, which is kept charged by light passing through the dial.
Can I swim with it?
The case is rated 5 bar, and the leather strap sets the limit — water and sweat soak into leather and break it down. Keep it to rain and hand-washing, and fit a rubber or metal strap of the same lug width before swimming.
Does it need a battery change?
It uses a rechargeable cell that typically lasts about 10 years and is charged by light passing through the dial. Bauhaus advises keeping it in the dark for 4 months at most.
