Ball Trainmaster Eternity Automatic Watch with Blue Dial.
Trainmaster echoes the pocket watches stamped with Ball's Standard for the American railroads, and keeps their proportions — thin cases, clean dials, precision as the whole argument. The Eternity holds the Trainmaster at 39.5 mm and 11.8 mm, on crocodile leather. Stainless steel, 39.5 mm in diameter and 11.8 mm thick.
The Ball RR1102 provides a 38-hour power reserve, with tritium gas in 14 sealed glass tubes lighting the hands and the indices, each one self-powered for 25 years. Around it, the case absorbs impact to 5,000 Gs.
The 14 tubes hold the same brightness year after year, on their own energy.

What happens to the gas tubes over the years?
The 14 tubes hold tritium gas, which emits its own light through radioactive decay, continuously and without any outside energy. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years, so the glow fades slowly. Ball rates the tubes for at least 25 years of useful reading.
Does the crown screw down?
Yes. It threads into the case and compresses its gasket, which is what holds the water resistance. Unscrew it to set the time, and screw it back down before the watch goes near water.
What does 5,000 Gs of shock resistance mean?
It is the impact the movement is built to take and still keep its rate — the order of a watch knocked hard against a door frame, or dropped onto a wooden floor from waist height.
What was Ball's Standard?
The inspection rules Webb C. Ball wrote for the American railroads after the Kipton collision of 1891 — how a watch had to be built, how often it had to be checked and how far its rate could drift. The first Ball watches were stamped with it, and the Trainmaster line takes their proportions.
