Vostok Europe Expedition North Pole Polar Light Solar Quartz Watch with Blue Dial.
Expedition North Pole draws on North Pole 1, the first drifting research station. It opened on June 6, 1937, some 20 km from the Pole and closed on February 19, 1938, after traveling 2,850 km on the ice. A light-charged caliber works with a 24-hour indicator in this Solar 24H version.
The stainless steel 316L case is 47 mm in diameter and 16.7 mm thick. Made in Japan, the S.Epson VS57 solar-powered quartz caliber powers the hours, minutes, seconds, date, and a power storage indicator. It runs for 5 months on a full charge. A K1 crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial. The case back is solid.
The Polar Light has a blue dial skeletonized in layers over the solar cell, paired with a fixed bezel and a rainbow PVD case. Super-LumiNova coats the hands and indices. The watch includes a leather strap and a silicone strap, measuring 24 mm at the lugs and fastening with a buckle.

What was North Pole 1?
The first drifting station for hydrological and geographical research in the polar area. It opened on June 6, 1937 about 20 km from the Pole, drifted 2,850 km on its ice floe over 9 months and closed on February 19, 1938. Vostok Europe has built its watches in Vilnius, Lithuania, since August 2003, using Russian movements until 2014 and Japanese movements since.
How long does it run on a charge?
About 5 months on a full charge. A solar cell under the dial converts any light into energy stored in a rechargeable cell, so daylight or a lamp keeps it running.
What is K1 crystal?
A synthetic crystal that combines the shock resistance of hardened mineral glass with scratch resistance close to that of sapphire. On these cases, it has an anti-reflective coating to improve readability.
How does the case size affect the fit on the wrist?
The distance between the lugs is 58.2 mm. That span across the top of the wrist matters more for fit than the 47 mm case diameter.
Who makes the movement?
Seiko Epson in Japan. Vostok Europe used Russian movements until 2014 and Japanese suppliers since, so the case is assembled in Lithuania around a Japanese quartz caliber.
