Herbelin Newport Héritage Originals Watch with Blue Dial.
Newport took shape in 1988 from the yachts racing the America’s Cup at Newport, Rhode Island, and from the portholes of transatlantic sailboats. The Héritage Originals returns to the shapes and colours of the first Newport of 1988, with 3 hands, a date and a ship’s wheel at 12 o’clock. The case measures 38.5 mm in stainless steel 316L with yellow gold PVD, 7.5 mm deep.
The Ronda 715 quartz calibre drives it. The Originals line also offers a chronograph, while this reference has 3 hands and a date. Central lugs, the Newport signature since its origin, hold the strap or bracelet close to the case.
Steel and yellow gold PVD share the case and lugs, as on the original. On blue leather with white stitching, guilloché blue sets off the gold.

How did the Newport collection begin?
In 1988, inspired by the yachts of the America’s Cup at Newport, Rhode Island. It has since sold 500,000 pieces and remains the best-selling line of the house. Herbelin has made watches since 1947, and the family house is now in its 3rd generation, led since 2020 by Maxime and Mathieu Herbelin, grandsons of the founder.
Where is it made?
In the Herbelin workshops at Charquemont, in the French Jura near the Swiss border. Each watch is assembled by hand and passes 65 quality checks, and the house keeps spare parts to restore its models, older ones included. The movements are Swiss.
Can I swim with it?
Rated 10 atm, it suits swimming and water activities. Keep the crown pushed home, leave it untouched while wet, and rinse in fresh water after the sea.
How does the gold PVD finish wear?
PVD bonds a thin, hard layer of gold-coloured metal to the steel in a vacuum chamber, so it holds up to daily wear far better than plating. Solvents and hard knocks can still mark it.
How well does the crystal hold up?
Sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale and is among the most scratch-resistant materials in watchmaking, so few things met in normal wear will mark it. A violent knock can still crack it.
