Bauhaus Dessau Solar Quartz Chronograph Watch with White Dial.
The Dessau line applies the functional design of the Bauhaus school, based in Dessau from 1925 to 1932, to classic analog dials in polished cases. The Dessau Solar Chronograph times intervals on light alone, with a 24-hour hand and a charge indicator, in a stainless steel case 41 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick.
A Japanese Seiko VR42A solar movement holds a charge for more than 90 days, powers the date display and is protected by a K1 safety mineral crystal.
Black numerals and indices mark the white dial. The watch is fitted with a black leather strap measuring 20 mm at the lugs, secured by a pin buckle.

What links the Dessau line to the Bauhaus?
Its reduced, functional dials follow the Bauhaus school, and the watches are assembled in a 1929 Bauhaus building in Ruhla. The school was founded in Weimar in 1919 and dissolved in 1933 by its last director, Mies van der Rohe.
Where is it made?
In Ruhla, Thuringia, where precision parts have been made since 1862 and watches since 1892, and where the VEB Uhrenwerk Ruhla once built millions of watches. POINTtec, the family company founded in 1987 that designs every model in-house, assembles them in its own listed Bauhaus building of 1929, which is also home to the Ruhla watch museum. The movement is Japanese.
How does the solar chronograph work?
Pusher A starts and stops the chronograph and pusher B resets it. A charge indicator on the dial shows the state of the cell, which light through the dial keeps topped up.
Can I swim with it?
The case is rated to 5 bar, and the leather strap sets the limit — water and sweat soak into leather and break it down. Keep the watch to rain and hand-washing, and fit a rubber or metal strap of the same lug width before swimming.
Does it need a battery change?
It operates on a rechargeable cell charged by light through the dial, which typically lasts about 10 years. Bauhaus advises keeping the watch in the dark for 4 months at most.
