Ball Engineer III Outlier GMT Automatic Watch with Black Dial.
Limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide. Engineer III is the modern Engineer: 904L steel, mu-metal magnetic protection and the Amortiser system, on cases sized for daily wear. The Outlier runs the RRM7337-C over 3 time zones, under a bidirectional ceramic bezel that combines Super-LumiNova with tritium gas tubes. The case measures 40 mm in 904L stainless steel, 13.8 mm deep.
The Ball RRM7337-C holds COSC chronometer certification. 29 sealed glass tubes of tritium gas light the dial, each one self-powered for 25 years. Around it, the patented Amortiser® system holds the balance through impact and magnetic protection reaches 80,000 A/m — 1,000 Gauss, held by an inner case of mu-metal, an alloy of nickel, iron, copper and molybdenum that draws field lines around the movement.
The bezel is ceramic, which holds its colour against ultraviolet light and keeps its edge against abrasion. The 29 tubes hold the same brightness year after year, on their own energy.

What happens to the gas tubes over the years?
The 29 tubes hold tritium gas, which emits its own light through radioactive decay, continuously and on its own energy. Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years, so the glow fades slowly. Ball rates the tubes for at least 25 years of useful reading.
What does COSC certification actually guarantee?
The movement was tested for 15 days by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres in 5 positions and at 3 temperatures, and it has to hold an average daily rate between -4 and +6 seconds. The certificate covers the movement as tested, before it was cased.
What does 1,000 Gauss protect against in practice?
80,000 A/m is the equivalent of 1,000 Gauss, which covers the magnets you meet in a normal day — speaker surrounds, laptop and tablet closures, handbag clasps, induction hobs. An inner case of mu-metal, an alloy of nickel, iron, copper and molybdenum, draws the field lines around the movement.
What does the Amortiser system do?
A ring around the movement damps the shock before it reaches the gear train, and a brake holds the rotor so that an impact stops it turning violently on its axis, which is how a shock usually damages an automatic movement.
How does the GMT hand work on this calibre?
The crown jumps the local 12-hour hand forward or back in whole hours while the GMT hand and the running seconds carry on undisturbed, and the date wheel follows the local zone. You reset to a new time zone with the watch still running.
