Limited to 1,000 watches, the Ball Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer keeps its illuminated sapphire timing bezel inside the case, protected from knocks beneath the crystal.
An internal timing bezel
The internal bezel turns in both directions. You can time an interval on its elapsed-time scale while reading the time on the main hands. The bezel can time a dive or a swim as easily as a meeting at the office.
Easy to read, day or night
The blue dial shows the hours, minutes, and sweep seconds, and a magnifier makes the date easier to read. Thirty-six tritium tubes keep the hands, dial, and internal bezel markings lit continuously, without needing to be charged by light. This version uses rainbow tubes across the blue dial, adding several colors to the display after dark.
Rooted in railroad timekeeping
Precision has deep roots at Ball. Founder Webb C. Ball set inspection standards for railroad watches after the 1891 train collision at Kipton, Ohio.
Ball’s commitment to accuracy lives on in the COSC-certified Ball RR1101-C automatic movement, which provides a 42-hour power reserve. COSC, the official Swiss chronometer testing institute, checks the accuracy of each certified movement over 15 days. An Amortiser ring absorbs energy from lateral shocks to help protect the movement.
Shielded from magnetism
A mu-metal shield redirects static and low-frequency magnetic fields around the movement. Made from nickel, iron, copper, and molybdenum, it helps keep those fields from affecting timekeeping. Magnetic resistance is rated at 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss).
The details
The stainless steel case measures 42 mm across and 13.5 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown. The watch is built to withs. It also resists shocks of 5,000 Gs (5,000 times the force of gravity). The case is water-resistant to 300 meters. The 21 mm rubber strap fastens with a pin buckle.
The internal sapphire bezel sits beneath the crystal and can be turned in both directions to time an interval. Gas tubes keep its elapsed-time markings illuminated continuously, using the same self-powered lighting technology as the hands and dial.
This reference has rainbow tubes across the blue dial. There are 36 tubes in total across the hands, dial, and internal bezel. Inside each sealed glass tube, tritium activates a luminous coating. The tubes glow continuously, without a battery or any need to be charged by sunlight or a lamp. The glow gradually fades as the tritium decays, with a half-life of about 12.3 years.
Amortiser surrounds the movement with a protective ring that absorbs energy from lateral shocks. A mu-metal shield redirects static and low-frequency magnetic fields around the movement to help keep those fields from disturbing its rate. The watch is rated to 80,000 A/m (1,000 gauss). Stronger fields can exceed that protection.
The movement passed independent chronometer testing over 15 days, in five positions and at three temperatures. The permitted average daily rate during testing is -4 to +6 seconds. The traditional test is performed before the movement is fitted into its case; its daily rate on the wrist can vary.
Water resistance depends on the condition of the seals and correct closure of the crown and case. Seals change with age, so the pressure rating does not mean water resistance remains unchanged throughout the watch’s life. Follow Ball’s care and service instructions.
Yes, we are an Official Ball Authorized Dealer, and an authorized dealer for every brand we carry.
With over 15 years in the luxury market, we guarantee the authenticity and quality of every piece we sell.
Your order arrives brand new in its original Ball packaging, with all official documentation and the Ball warranty card, stamped and dated by us.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It doesn't cover normal wear and tear or accidental damage — and on watches, it doesn't cover straps, bracelets, or batteries.
