Venezianico Nereide GMT 39 keeps home time in view when you travel, with a blue sunburst dial and a BK7 optical-glass bezel.
A traveler GMT
The Miyota 9075 is a traveler-style GMT. When you land, you can jump the local hour hand forward or back in one-hour steps. The seconds hand keeps moving during the change, and the 24-hour hand holds home time for reference. The dial also has a date window, and the bidirectional 24-click bezel can track a third time zone.
Charts and meridians
The watch’s colors, taken from early 20th-century nautical charts, evoke the great transoceanic routes. The case back shows the Earth surrounded by cities and time zones. That motif recalls the 1884 international agreement that made Greenwich the prime meridian.
A smoky sunburst dial
The dial has a sunburst finish under a smoky gradient that deepens toward the edge. Faceted, ingot-shaped applied markers stand proud of the surface. Swiss-made BGW9 Super-LumiNova, charged by daylight or artificial light, helps you read the time in the dark.
The details
The Japanese Miyota 9075 automatic movement shows hours, minutes, seconds, and the date, plus a 24-hour GMT hand. The 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm across, 45.5 mm lug to lug, and 11.9 mm thick.
An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, the crown screws down, and water resistance is rated at 100 meters. The Sansovino steel bracelet closes with a folding clasp. The line takes its name from the Nereide, a submarine built in Venice in 1919 and part of the city’s naval history.
It was the name of a submarine built in Venice between 1911 and 1913. Its naval engineering history inspired the collection’s maritime design and rotating bezels.
The Miyota 9075 lets the local hour hand move independently in one-hour steps without stopping the seconds or changing the 24-hour reference hand. This lets you set local time on arrival while keeping home time on the GMT hand.
Wind it by hand before putting it on. Venezianico recommends about 20–30 turns of the crown to provide an initial reserve. If the crown screws down, unscrew it before winding and secure it afterward. The rotor replenishes the reserve as you wear the watch, though light activity may not supply enough energy to keep it running.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9075 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
