Venezianico Arsenale Calendario brings a complete calendar and a sapphire-framed day-night display to a layered blue sunburst dial.
The Arsenale takes its name from the shipyard that supplied the Venetian Republic, where specialized workshops organized shipbuilding into a sequence of tasks long before the Industrial Revolution. The watch echoes that orderly layout with a dial built on several levels. Concentric subdials group the day and month indications, while skeletonized dauphine hands and polished ingot-shaped markers sit above the sunburst surface.
At 6 o’clock, a rotating disc shows the passage from day to night beneath a sapphire crescent held by two screws. The power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock has a hand with a raised neck that clears the Venezianico cross as it travels over the logo. A full wind provides approximately 42 hours of running time.
The Japanese Miyota 9100 automatic movement powers the day, date, month, power reserve, and day-night indications. Its 316L stainless steel case measures 40 mm across and 44 mm from lug to lug; the stated 9.6 mm thickness excludes the double-domed sapphire crystal, which is 1.4 mm thick. A knurled steel bezel surrounds the dial, and the engraved back pays tribute to the Arsenale.
Alternating satin and polished finishes continue onto the integrated Canova Concept™ steel bracelet, secured by a folding clasp. The crown screws down, and water resistance is rated at 5 atm.
The name comes from the Arsenale, the Venetian Republic’s shipyard. Its specialized workshops and sequential assembly methods supported the fleet long before modern factories. That history of organized metalworking is the starting point for the collection’s contemporary case design.
It shows the day of the week, the date, and the month. The calendar follows a 31-day cycle, so it needs manual correction after shorter months.
It shows how much energy remains in the mainspring. The reading rises as the movement is wound and falls as that energy is used. With a full wind, the movement has an approximately 42-hour power reserve.
Sapphire’s hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes it highly resistant to everyday scratches. It can still be scratched by harder materials, and a hard impact can chip or crack it, especially at an edge.
Miyota, part of the Citizen group, manufactures the 9100 in Japan. This 9-series automatic runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and also allows hand winding. Venezianico uses it in a watch made in Italy.
The disc follows a 24-hour cycle, showing day and night beneath a sapphire crescent. It does not track the Moon’s monthly cycle. The crescent is a fixed part of the display, held in place by two screws.
