The Namiki Yukari Royale Parrot with Peach fountain pen brings together two motifs associated with marriage. In the southern Chinese context of the design, the parrot represents fidelity and loyalty, while the peach carries associations with marriage, life, and immortality. Their shared meaning connects the bird and fruit within a single composition.
Artisan Masaru creates the scene in Togidashi-Taka Maki-e on black urushi lacquer. The background is completed using burnished Togidashi Maki-e, then lacquer and charcoal powder build up the main design. That raised treatment gives the principal motif a different presence from its surroundings.
The Japanese-made pen has a two-tone 18k gold nib and accepts ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink. It closes with a screw-on cap and measures 149.2 mm capped, with a barrel width of 15 mm. A converter and a wooden presentation box are included.
