The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson Limited Edition ballpoint draws on Treasure Island and the author's pursuit of freedom and imagined worlds. Born in Edinburgh in 1850, Stevenson wrote essays, travel accounts, and stories that introduced readers to Long John Silver, Captain Flint, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Engraved crosses decorate the black precious resin barrel, with a larger X recalling the mark that locates buried treasure. Vertical lines on the upper section suggest both the planks of the Hispaniola and a sea chest, while the overall form and cone rings recall an extendable spyglass. Behind the platinum-coated, belaying-pin-shaped clip, the lines form a compass rose.
The top combines the Montblanc emblem with a skull-and-crossbones motif. Stevenson's signature and 1866, the publication year of The Pentland Rising, appear on the ring, and his lifespan, 1850–1894, is engraved on the upper section. Together, these details connect the voyage of Treasure Island with the writer's own life.
It uses a twist mechanism to extend and retract the ballpoint tip and accepts an original Montblanc ballpoint refill. Made in Germany, it has manufacturer-listed overall dimensions of 142.8 × 18.4 mm. Its stated weight is 54.7 g.
