The story behind French maison S.T. Dupont is a story of producing the finest luxury products, a story of a design atelier where innovation and ideas are brought to life and where quality rings true. Everything starts in 1872, when 25-year-old Simon Tissot Dupont, former photographer to Napoleon III, opens a small luggage and leather goods workshop in rue de Dieu, Paris. The S.T. Dupont family starts since to expand their business even further, opening different factories all around France to cater for an ever-growing demand for their luxury articles. In 1929, S.T. Dupont joins Louis Cartier in New York to sell his travel cases at the Cartier boutique on Fifth Avenue, becoming an instant success on an international level. It was not until 1941 when S.T. Dupont created his first luxury lighter, an exquisite solid gold piece ordered by the Indian Maharajah of Patiala. The French brand will continue to collaborate with celebrities and personalities for many years, and will become a true symbol of success and luxury worldwide.
