Discover how handwriting is interpreted through graphology and enjoy a special experience with Macarena Arnás during Pen Week 2026 · The Writing Lab.
We all have a unique way of writing. The slant of our letters, their size, the pressure we put on the paper, and the way we connect our words create a combination of gestures we recognize as our own.
Maybe you write in small, neat letters. Maybe you prefer broad, spontaneous strokes. Or maybe you've never stopped to notice how you hold your fountain pen, how much space you leave between words, or what happens when you write in a hurry.
These are details we repeat almost without realizing it and that, over time, become part of our handwriting.
But what can we discover when we start looking at our own handwriting?
During Pen Week 2026 · The Writing Lab, we want to explore this question from a different perspective, delving into the world of graphology through a special experience at our Madrid boutique.

Graphology is a practice that analyzes the characteristics of handwriting and offers interpretations about the personality and certain traits of the writer.
To do this, it looks at elements such as letter size, slant, stroke pressure, spacing between words, and how the text is laid out on the page.
In traditional graphology, these characteristics are associated with traits such as expressiveness, organization, spontaneity, or reserve.
However, it's important to distinguish these interpretations from scientifically established knowledge. Graphology lacks solid scientific evidence to reliably determine someone's personality from their handwriting.
That doesn't stop us from approaching it with curiosity, as an experience of observation and personal reflection.
Because taking the time to look at our own handwriting and paying attention to gestures that usually go unnoticed can help us discover features of the way we write that we had never noticed before.
And that curiosity connects directly with the spirit of The Writing Lab.

From October 26 to November 1, Pen Week becomes The Writing Lab, our lab dedicated to experimenting with writing instruments and discovering how their features shape our experience.
Throughout the week, we'll explore the nibs, materials, design, filling systems, inks, and balance of fountain pens.
We'll ask why some people prefer a fine nib while others enjoy broader strokes. Why certain fountain pens feel especially comfortable in our hand, or how an ink can visually transform our words.
But there's one variable present in all of these experiments that doesn't belong to any writing instrument.
Us.
The way we hold a fountain pen, the pressure we apply, the size of our letters, and the movements we make as we write are all part of the experience.
And this is where graphology invites us to look at writing from another angle.
While The Writing Lab explores how instruments can influence the way we write, graphology looks at the particular features of the strokes we produce.

Although at first glance a handwritten page may look like just a collection of words, traditional graphology pays attention to countless details.
Graphology uses these characteristics to build interpretations, although none of them can reliably establish a personality trait.
What's interesting is that we're often unaware of how we write until someone invites us to take a look.
Do your letters always stay the same size? How does your handwriting change when you're in a hurry? Do you write the same way with a ballpoint as with a fountain pen?
These are questions that encourage us to look at an everyday activity from a new perspective.

During Pen Week 2026, we want to take this experience beyond our digital content.
That's why, on Wednesday, October 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., we'll be joined at our Madrid boutique by Macarena Arnás, graphologist at La Magia de las Letras, who specializes in the analysis and interpretation of handwriting.
Macarena will introduce us to the world of graphology through free individual graphological interpretations, where we'll discover how this practice observes and analyzes the particular features of our handwriting.
An experience designed to spark curiosity, look at our handwriting from another perspective, and enjoy a different kind of activity as part of The Writing Lab.
The activity is free and requires advance registration.
A chance to discover the particular features of your handwriting through a graphological interpretation, approached as an experience of personal curiosity and not as a scientifically validated psychological assessment.
This year, we want the experience to continue beyond our boutique.
During Pen Week, you can take part in the different Writing Tests we've prepared to help you discover your writing preferences.
Through simple questions, you'll be able to explore which fountain pen features might suit you best: nib type, materials, design, filling system, ink, or balance.
You don't need to be an expert or master any special technique. Just answer based on your tastes and the way you write.
And we have a surprise.
When you finish the Writing Tests, you'll have the chance to enter a giveaway for a complete graphological report by Macarena Arnás of La Magia de las Letras.
A chance to enjoy two complementary experiences: discovering which writing instruments best suit your preferences and learning how graphology interprets the features of your handwriting.
The prize is a personalized graphological interpretation, designed as an experience of curiosity and self-discovery, not as a diagnosis or a scientifically validated psychological assessment.
A special way to extend The Writing Lab experience and keep discovering new ways to enjoy writing.
At Iguana, we believe choosing a fountain pen is a deeply personal thing.
We can compare materials, study filling systems, analyze nibs, and discover new brands. But the experience isn't complete until we pick up the instrument and start writing.
That's where each person finds their own combination of sensations, movements, and preferences.
And maybe that's why handwriting still feels so special.
Because even when we use the same words, each of us writes them in our own way.
During Pen Week 2026 · The Writing Lab, we invite you to discover it from every angle: exploring the instruments, experimenting with their features, and observing your own handwriting.
Visit us at our Madrid boutique, discover the experience with our graphologist, and take the Writing Tests for a chance to win a complete graphological report.
