  • This year again, Pelikan offers a fountain pen which matches the Edelstein® Ink of The Year 2020 Moonstone. Both the pen and the ink are inspired by the coulour and shine of the moonstone. The barrel of the fountain pen is made of an innovative combination of materials and shines in natural daylight, creating a unique effect in which countless shades of grey can be seen. The set includes one fountain pen and one bottle of ink and it's available in limited quantities.

Great addition to my pen collection

This my first Pelikan pen and it definitely won’t be the last! The gift box is simple and not fussy, the ink is a gorgeous colour and the pen…fantastic. It’s petite, lightweight and a joy to write with. The colour is grey and when sunlight catches the pen it reveals its rainbow holo shimmer. So pleased with my purchase, I’d recommend to anyone!

As expected- nice pen

Love the Pelikan 205 for size and quality. Like look of pen. Ink is a bit ligh, looks almost like pencil lead.

Pelikan In(k)ventory

I wish Pelikan had issued this pen in the Summer of 2019 - specifically, 19th of July - the date (fifty years earlier) Neil Armstrong placed that epic footfall upon the surface of the moon; now that would have been most apposite.
The M205 (the ‘5’ denotes silvered accents) Moonstone is presented in one of Pelikan’s white gatefold cartons - a standard that has remained since the first Special Edition models were issued.
The pen rests in a diagonal slot, & a bottle of Moonstone ink - a silver-grey, below that. The writing instrument itself is a grey translucent demonstrator - so you are able to see the mechanics of the pen thru’ the cap & barrel, in which there are subtle sparkles within the plastic, making it slightly opaque. On closer inspection with a magnifying loupe, those glittery elements jump out at you in every spectral shade.
The cap crown has the usual Pelikan & one chick, appropriately printed in silver, with a chromed ferrule securing the clip - a stylised Pelikan bill.
Moving down the uniform barrel, there is a ring that separates the piston turning knob from the barrel.
Beneath the cap, we see the usual Steel nib - I selected a Fine, but wished I had gone to the Extra Fine, because modern Pelikan nibs tend to write a little broader than their designation: That said, the nib writes smoothly with the accompanying ink, which is more arid than usual, & surprised me when it dried - for the ink darkens, & shades very nicely.
If I had any suggestions to make to Pelikan, I would have offered this particular issue with a Rhodium plated gold nib - as an optional extra at point of sale; it is, after all, a Special Edition.
It is by no means the largest of pens - equal to that of the M400 series in length, slightly slimmer in girth. This is an ideal pen size for smaller hands, & even medium to large hands (when posted), it cradles well in the web space between forefinger & thumb. Posted, it balances finely, & there is no backweight from the cap.
Delightfully consistent build quality, I might imagine this to be an ideal Christmas gift - for novice, or more well seasoned pen enthusiast.
