Toi-Koma is a traditional Japanese spinning top game. Following Japanese tradition, Koma is played on New Year's Day. This Namiki Nippon Art fountain pen displays different Koma toys on the pen's body, and in the cap, kites can be seen moving among the clouds. This piece includes the Hira Maki-e technique, where the lacquered main design is adorned with sprinkled gold and silver powders; several additional layers of lacquer are applied, and once hardened, it is polished.
